What Is a Slide Sheet?
A slide sheet allows for the safe transfer and movement of a patient when laying on a hospital bed, who may be immobile or unable to move autonomously. This sheet is made with silicone coated nylon that provides a low-friction surface to move or reposition a patient with minimal strength required. This reduces the level of unnecessary workload for caregivers and reduces the risk of injury or muscle sprain trying to move heavy patients.
How Does a Slide Sheet Work?
Slide sheets are versatile and diverse handling equipment that can be used in a number of ways and arrangements. A slide sheet is designed to lay between a patient and the bed, allowing the sheet to slide the patient into a different position. When a patient cannot assist with movement, they should be rolled onto their side to allow half the sheet to sit underneath them. Simply repeat this process until the patient is laying on top of the entire sheet.
Manual Handling With A Slide Sheet
Slide sheets can assist with a number of manual handling tasks and positions. They can be used in conjuncture with each other to provide a frictionless manoeuvre, allowing two sheets to effortlessly slide across each other. Take a look at this NHS Slide Sheet Guide Video that demonstrates different ways caregivers can use a slide sheet to their advantage.
Tubular with High Grip
The Slide Sheets are manufactured in tubular form, providing the smoothest and most secure movement possible. To enhance safety and grip, the sheets are made with silicone-nylon surfaces to aid positioning and prevent accidents.
