Samarit Mini-Gyn Transfer Board

Traditional transfer boards are often too bulky to be suitable for less demanding independent transfers, such as in urology and gynaey surgery. The Samarit Mini-Gyn Transfer Board can be used for safe and effortless lateral transfers in most areas of healthcare. It is just large enough to bridge most gaps of up to 20cm, while compact and lightweight enough to be easy to handle by anyone, even the patients themselves.

How Does the Mini-Gyn Transfer Board Work?

The Mini-Gyn Transfer Board, initially designed for urology and gynaey surgery, can be used for all transfers between two narrow surfaces, such as bed to trolley/table, trolley to table and vice versa. Acting like a tank track, the board moves across the gap between two surfaces for a safe and effortless patient transfer.

Suitable for Independent Transfers

Though great for use with assistance, the Mini-Gyn Board is also useful when asking people to transfer themselves, which is suitable for all situations where the patient has use of legs and upper body strength, but simply needs something to help them slide over and navigate the gap. Watch the video below to see the Mini-Gyn Transfer Board used during an independent transfer.

Common Areas of Use

Due to its compact size, light weight and slippy surface, the Mini-Gyn Board is suitable for use in all areas of healthcare where lateral transfers between bed and trolley or table are frequent. It is most commonly used in:

  • Emergency services
  • Medical Assessment Units (MAU)
  • Operating theatres
  • Radiology and imaging
  • Recovery
  • Surgical Admission Units (SAU)
