Why Should I Use Bedside Bumpers?

A study based on the NPSA’s National Reporting and Learning System (NRLS) estimated 1,250 reports of injuries from striking or trapping limbs in bedrails are made every twelve months from hospitals and mental health units in England and Wales. The Medicines and Health Care Products Regulatory Agency (MHRA) have had reports of 21 bedrail related deaths from 2000 – 2006. What Size Bumpers Do I Need?

These Bed Rail Bumpers are designed to fit bed rails either 134cm or 183cm in length. Both sizes provide good coverage and protection, however if your patient or loved one is taller in height or at a higher risk of getting their lower limbs caught in bed rails, then the larger of the two sizes would be most suitable.

These bumpers use easy-to-fit hook and loop fastenings along the bottom edge making them straightforward and effortless to set up and secure. The fastening on the bottom edge prevents anyone from accidentally unhooking it, helping to improve patient safety.

Patients who suffer from involuntary movements or seizures can easily get their arms trapped in between bed rails or cause limb injury from harsh contact with the rails throughout the night.
