Extra Small Repose Boots Foot Protector (Pair)

If you suffer from pressure ulcers or care for somebody with skin damage to the heels, the Extra Small Repose Boots Foot Protector (Pair) can help to minimise risks and make monitoring the condition easier. The Repose Boots offload pressure and protect the bones on either side of the ankle, and are made from transparent material to reduce the need to remove the boots to keep an eye on any developments in the condition.

What's in the Box?

Each purchase of the Repose Boots include the following items:

  • 2 x Repose Boots (Extra Small Size)
  • 1 x Pump for inflation

How Can the Repose Boots Help Me?

To help you decide if the pair of Repose Boots Foot Protectors are the right choice for you, your loved one, or your patient, we've compiled a list of some of the key features and benefits. The Repose Boots may help you by offering the following:

  • Designed specifically to minimise the risk of pressure damage to heels
  • Distributes weight evenly with low air technology
  • Reduces impact of pressure, friction and shear
  • Doesn't lose shape over time for ongoing relief
  • Suitable for use while in bed or with your feet elevated
  • Vapour-permeable transparent material facilitates easier skin monitoring
  • Lightweight boots can be deflated for easier transport and storage
  • Easy to clean in between use for ongoing essential hygiene maintenance
  • Provided in a size Extra Small (Standard, Large, and Small also available)
  • Maximum User Weight: 139kg
  • Supplied as a pair for even pressure relief on both heels

How Do Repose Boots Foot Protectors Relieve Pressure?

Repose Boots utilise inflatable aircells to minimise the risk of pressure damage by offloading pressure on the heels. Low air technology distributes weight and pressure evenly without losing shape. All Repose products feature Smart Valve Technology, which automatically ensures that the support inflates to the optimal pressure.

Are the Repose Boots Right For Me?

You can use Repose Boots if you are at risk of developing pressure ulcers. They are also suitable if you are caring for somebody with pressure-related tissue damage, or if you are a tissue viability nurse caring for a very high risk of developing pressure ulcers on their heels. An article in the British Journal of Community Nursing, entitled 'Reduced Heel Pressure Damage When Using the Repose Foot Protector', illustrates the level of efficacy of the Repose Boots when used with orthopaedic patients at high risk of developing pressure damage.

Please note that clinical supervision is advised where the damage is severe. We recommend consulting your doctor or other medical professional if you have any concerns about the suitability of the Repose Boots for your own condition.

Is the Pump Included with the Repose Boots?

Yes! The pump included with your Repose Boots is actually part of the packaging, ensuring you can store the pump and the boots together at all times when they are not required.

What Size of Repose Boots Foot Protectors Do I Need?

The pair of Repose Foot Protectors are available here in a size Extra Small. They are also available in Standard, Small, and Large sizes; please see the details below and measure the calf accordingly to find the right size for you or your patient.

How Do I Inflate the Repose Boots?

A pump is provided with your Repose Boots, and pushes easily onto the valve of each boot. Inflate the device until air is heard escaping from the pump valve, and then cover the valve on the device using the solid end of the figure-of-eight valve cap.

Please note that each Repose Boot must be inflated before positioning it beneath your heel. It has been designed to set the optimal pressure for you. Please see the PDF below for a visual guide to inflating your Repose Boots.

How Quickly Do the Boots Inflate?

When inflated with the pump, the Repose Boots Foot Protectors inflate in less than a minute. This makes them quick and easy to use as soon as they arrive with you.

Can I Wear Socks with the Repose Boots Foot Protectors?

It is not advised to wear socks with your Repose Boots as it can cause friction, while also reducing the efficacy of the transparent material for monitoring. If feet begin to feel sweaty while wearing the Repose Boots, the boots can be lined with a thin pillow case.

Can I Sit Up and Walk Around While Wearing the Foot Protectors?

The Boots Foot Protectors are not suitable use when you are resting your feet on the floor or moving around while wearing them. They do not include straps for securing them in place, and must be used while lying down.

Can I Use the Boots When Travelling?

The Repose Boots deflate down to a compact size and can be stored inside the pump, which doubles as the packaging for the boots. This makes them ideal for taking them with you when you travel.

Is There a Weight Limit for the Repose Boots?

Repose Boots Foot Protectors can be used by individuals weighing up to 139kg. There is no lower patient weight limit for these boots. Please note that patients at the higher extremes of the weight range should be monitored regularly.

Do I Have to Manually Set the Pressure On the Repose Boots Foot Protectors?

No. The 'smart valve' technology in the pump automatically ensures that your Repose Boots Foot Protectors inflate to the optimal pressure. This pressure has been demonstrated over time (and supported by clinical trials) to be the optimal balance between comfort and efficacy for pressure ulcer prevention and treatment.

How Do I Clean the Repose Boots?

Your Repose Boots Foot Protectors can be cleaned with soap and water and, if necessary, with a chlorine-based disinfectant (not phenol-based). Repose Boots Heel Protectors should be dry before repackaging into the tube. Please see the PDF below for a comprehensive guide to cleaning your Repose Boots.

Please note that clinical advice should be sought if deterioration in the skin condition is noticed. The Repose Boots are not suitable for individuals with unstable spinal fractures or in instances where the size or shape of the limb cannot be fully supported by the Repose Boots Foot Protectors.
