Who Is the Evacuation Sheet iNTENDED For?

In many hospitals, nursing or care home settings, there are often immobile or bed-bound patients who are especially vulnerable in emergency situations. This evacuation sheet has been expertly designed for patients of all ages who would be physically incapable of arising from their bed and walking away from an emergency with or without aids.

How Does the Emergency Evacuation Sheet Work?

An Emergency Evacuation sheet is permanently placed under a mattress as a precautionary measure, with a smooth, textured side facing down, allowing it to slide easily over diverse flooring. The mattress sits on top and is secured with elasticated corner straps. With pulling straps expertly placed on either end, this allows caregivers to transport patients, remaining comfortably on their mattress, down narrow corridors or stairs.

How Do You Secure a Patient to the Mattress?

The Emergency Evacuation Sheet has secure straps, fastened with a safety lock buckle to secure both the upper and lower body of the patient. The straps can be tightened or loosened accordingly, dependent on the individuals body size, ensuring complete security and erasing the risk of the patient sliding or falling out. When not in use, the handles and straps are stored away using pockets.

Please watch this video to learn how to properly operate the sheet.

How Should the Evacuation Sheet Be Operated?

When an emergency presents itself and the patient has been secured, caregivers should lower the bed close to the floor, using the looped straps on either end to rotate the mattress 90° and gently pull the mattress onto the floor. From here, you can efficiently slide the patient down narrow corridors and stairs, avoiding harsh impact and agitation. Two people are required to operate the Emergency Evacuation Sheet.

Will the Patient Feel Harsh Impact or Agitation?

The Emergency Evacuation Sheet is expertly designed for vulnerable or frail patients who might be sensitive to impact or aggressive movements. The sheet is designed to transport patients on top of their mattress, allowing it to absorb shock and impact should there be any uneven surfaces. With proper operation, your patient will remain comfortable and stable.

Can the Evacuation Sheet Be Used With an Air Mattress?

No, the Emergency Evacuation Sheet is not recommended for use with an air mattress. For evacuation of an air mattress, we recommend the Air Mattress Evacuation Sheet.

Which Sizes is the Sheet Available In?

The Emergency Evacuation Sheet is available in a Standard and Bariatric (120cm wide) size to match your needs.
