How To Use the Cromptons Slide Sheet Gloves for Patient Handling

The Cromptons Slide Sheet Gloves have multiple applications. The most common uses, and the techniques for those uses are listed below:

Patient Repositioning

When being used to reposition a patient, the gloves should be worn over the hands of the carer. To move a patient across a bed, the carer can slide their hands underneath the patient's ankles and move them across, then use a similar technique to slide the buttocks, and then the shoulders across. This should provide a smooth, gentle repositioning process for any patient that might be suffering from pressure sores or similar conditions.

Please note: these gloves should not be used to lift the patient.

Skin Smoothing

To smooth and release a patient's skin, the gloves can be used over the carer's hand to smooth out sheets, or to release the tension on the patient's skin

Dressing Aid

The Slide Sheet Gloves can be used as a dressing aid by being placed over the hands or feet of the patient before putting on layers, enabling clothing with sleeves or legs to easily slide on without catching on fingers or toes.

Sling Fitting

Fitting slings can be made easier by using a Slide Sheet Glove over the user's hand to help position the sling. The gloves' material makes them especially useful for bringing the leg pieces of the sling around the hips and under the thighs.

Maintenance of the Cromptons Slide Sheet Gloves

The Slide Sheet Gloves are designed for multiple uses, but only with a single patient. They can not be laundered. If the gloves become lightly soiled, they can be wiped clean using a dilute chlorine based solution or a good quality sterilisation fluid. Small marks and spillages can be wiped using a damp cloth then dried if needed.
